By Guest Posts, Healthy Living
In order to get big, you have to eat big. Yep, you read that right. Eat. More. Food. There is no pill, powder or magic shake that will help you add bulk to your brawn. Muscle building is just as much about what you do with your body as it is what you put in your body, which means you have to be 100% committed to both a workout plan and a nutritional plan full of protein. So get a plate and fork ready, and take a stab at a few of these muscle morphing foods (more…)

By Guest Posts, Healthy Living
As a full-time working mother of a very active 3-year-old, I’m lucky to set aside two minutes each day to brush my teeth, never mind 30 minutes to exercise. That is, until one day, I heard my son say “mommy, watch this,” as he bent over into what appeared to be a downward-dog position. I don’t know where he came up with that because he’s never been to a yoga class, but I realized that the possibility of the two of us exercising together as a family had just become very real. I grabbed a mat, popped in a yoga DVD and we had our very first yoga session right there in the living room. He was happy learning new positions in which to twist his little body, and I was happy that we were spending quality time together while I finally got the chance to exercise. Yoga is just one way to enjoy exercise with your kids as you teach them about the importance of fitness. Here are a few other ways to turn family fun time into family fit time: (more…)

The prerequisite is early detection.” –Ann Jillian Aside from autumn colors and crisp mornings, October means the pink ribbons come out again for what’s known worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This international health campaign was founded in 1985 to promote awareness and prevention, and to raise money for research, treatments and hopefully someday a cure. During the past 30 years, a vast array of activities and events have sprouted up including walks, runs and some of the most recognizable buildings and monuments illuminated in pink lights for the month. There’s a lot going on this month in the fight for the cure, here’s what’s not to miss. (more…)
