The pinnacle of the NFL football season, Super Bowl 51, has come and gone with the New England Patriots as the victors once again after an exciting match against the Atlanta Falcons. Now offseason has officially begun! But although it may be called “off,” but the boys are definitely not taking any kind of break.

Training in the offseason is just as important during this time as any other, if not more so. After all, the players from the Falcons and the Patriots didn’t get to this Super Bowl by sitting around drinking beer and watching basketball! Here are a few resources on what teams have done to get stronger than the year before, and great tips on how to stay in shape the way the pros do:

Teams train differently during the offseason from year to year. Men’s Fitness went head to head with the Seahawks to bring you what that is and training tips from players that you can incorporate into your workouts.

Learn the six keys of football training, and get a complete eight-week exercise and meal program that will have you throwing and sprinting like the best of the best. And, just for comparison sake, here’s another phase 5 training program. This one is nice because it breaks out the exercise day by day.

The NFL itself even offers up a list of five exercises to boost performance and other tips on stretching, drills and home workouts, where equipment isn’t necessary.

This article has laid out the sets and reps on very specific exercises that players do to get bigger, stronger and more refined physiques.

Although this NFLPA site doesn’t list specific things you can do to get buff, it is somewhat fascinating to see the actual “rules” of offseason…who knew?
