Embracing Sustainability: A Societal Trend
It is not just about embracing change; there is a growing demand for sustainability. Students at York University are passionately advocating for eco-friendly practices and social justice. This dedication to sustainability aligns with a broader societal trend, as reflected in statistics showing that 83% of Millennials and 75% of Gen Z prioritize values-based shopping, favoring brands with positive societal influences and eco-friendliness1.
Impact on Students: Exercising for a purpose
In 2023, the Tait McKenzie Centre added 43 ECO-POWR™ cardio units to their facility and the impact on students has been profound. Discovering that their exercise contributes to the planet resonates positively, student reactions range from gratitude and surprise to a sense of simplicity in making an environmentally conscious choice. The hope is that this mindset becomes the norm, making sustainable choices an obvious and easy decision for future students and universities.
