The SportsArt Campus Challenge Sweepstakes invited college students across the country to share how they live greener on campus. Haley Cronin of Pearl River Community College was selected from three finalists as the Grand Prize winner. As a result, Pearl River received $75,000 worth of SportsArt’s ECO-POWR™ treadmills, a revolutionary line of cardio equipment that converts human energy into utility-grade electricity—feeding power back into the grid with every workout.

Cronin was also awarded a cash prize of $3,000 and SportsArt will donate $3000 to the PRCC student organization of her choice.

WE’RE DEEPLY GRATEFUL TO SPORTSART FOR AWARDING THIS AMAZING PRIZE PACKAGE TO OUR RURAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE IMPACT HAS ALREADY BEEN FELT ACROSS CAMPUS, ESPECIALLY IN OUR WELLNESS CENTER, WHICH NOW HAS A NEW ENERGY AND SENSE OF EXCITEMENT.

Located in Poplarville, MS., Pearl River Community College stood out for its commitment to student health and forward-thinking approach to fitness, earning top honors in the 2nd Annual Campus Challenge.

“The Campus Challenge is all about inspiring schools to accept the challenge and lead the way in sustainability and fitness, said Ruben Mejia, Executive Vice President of SportsArt. “By integrating ECO-POWR™ technology into their facility, Pearl River is enhancing the student experience and proving that even small institutions can make a big impact when it comes to green initiatives. We’re proud to be part of their campus experience.”

The summer installation has already drawn positive attention from faculty and summer-session students. With the fall semester on the horizon, the college anticipates even greater engagement from returning students.

“While summer is a bit quieter on campus, we can’t wait for the fall semester when students return in full force,” said Rouse. “We know they’re going to love using these treadmills as much as we do. We appreciate SportsArt for supporting fitness, innovation, and sustainability in such a meaningful way. They have made a lasting difference in our community.”
