The Sustainable City (TSC) is the first net-zero energy city in Dubai. The ambitious project is shaped to become an iconic showcase for luxurious sustainable living around the world. With a mission to evolve the way cities across the globe contribute to its people’s well-being, TSC has created a three-tiered approach that encompasses social, economic, and environmental factors to better the lives of its residents.
Based on their mission, energy producing fitness equipment was a way for the city to offer all the high-end amenities of a fitness facility while staying true to their approach for holistic living.

Sustainable fitness experience
Well-being is an important part of residential life at The Sustainable City, which is why the
city offers a variety of activities for all seasons including outdoor cycling, jogging, swimming,
indoor sustainable cardio alternatives, and weights for the offseason. Part of the idea behind
well-being for the residents of TSC is to involve sustainable practices throughout their daily lives,
both inside and outside resident’s homes. With the energy-producing fitness equipment, the city
is able to offer the traditional fitness experience while also increasing awareness and sensitivity
around the real cost of energy usage.
OUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN TWICE AWARDED THE 'HAPPIEST COMMUNITY IN THE GCC AREA' IN THE
LAST TWO YEARS. PEOPLE LOVE TO LIVE HERE IN THIS SUSTAINABLE PROJECT BECAUSE THEY HAVE
MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS TO DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS WORLD. PRODUCING
ENERGY ON FITNESS EQUIPMENT IS SOMETHING SUSTAINABLY UNIQUE AND THE SPORTSART
EQUIPMENT THEREFORE SUITS PERFECTLY TO THE CONCEPT OF THIS COMMUNITY. IF RESIDENTS

The response of the residents
When residents produce watts during their workout, they are better able to understand the effort and sweat needed to produce the energy they consume. The knowledge of what it takes to produce energy is helping gym-going residents connect to the reduction of energy waste on a one-to-one level.
It also adds a layer of motivation to push themselves and continue their efforts to not only improve their health but the health of the world. When residents see how much good they can do with their burned calories, they begin to inspire others to join them and do the same.
SEEING HOW MUCH CLEAN GREEN ENERGY I PRODUCE ON THE ELLIPTICAL OR EVEN THE NEW VERDE TREADMILL HAS PUSHED ME TO DO AN EVEN LONGER, HARDER WORKOUT EVERY TIME. IT MOTIVATES
ME TO TRAIN FOR MY NEXT QUEST WHILE DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
